Chris, I have received emails from quite a few people who live in states that border Canada and tell me about all the people they know of who leave Canada and come to the US for medical treatment. I have heard too many horror stories to recite. If you Google some key words I am sure you would immediately come up with quite a few yourself. The way people view Canadian healthcare is probably like the HMO I used to belong to years ago. I thought it was great because I never really had any health problems while I was a member and thought they were great because they covered lots of preventive things (prenatal tests when I was pregnant, etc.). Two friends of mine, however, hated the HMO because one had a back problem and she suffered for months going through proper channels before finally getting to the specialist she needed and getting surgery. The other friend said her son almost died due to the HMO, but I don't remember the specifics of it.

This is unjust to the health care providers, produces bad results, and costs the earth.
