Prayer Request

Sadly, I have a tough time reading about children with life-threatening illnesses.  My daughter has had a tough time since her premature birth four years ago, so stuff like this just hits me like a ton of bricks and I find it tough to process.  I hope that those of you out there that are able to say a prayer for this child that Hugh Hewitt featured on his radio show and that Captain Ed posted about here, will do that and anything else you are able to do to help.

Use That Wasted Time

I agree with Betsy Newmark about using wasted time to teach kids, including the example she gives of a shower curtain with SAT vocabulary words.  My kids both had the foam bathtub letters that they used to form words while bathing, and we often quiz phonics or multiplication tables (for the four and eight year old respectively) in the car.

Now this would really tick some people off.  Sounds like a great idea to me.

Al Franken Video

Johnny Dollar's Place has posted the tearful Al Franken clip I wrote about here last night. If you haven't seen it yet, you really should take a look.

For the record, I am not questioning that Al Franken loves his country. What I question is his judgment and how he chooses to express that love when he constantly criticizes every part of the troops' mission and does not give credit for the good work being done in Iraq. To say to our boys and girls that they are doing a great job at a USO show when you go to visit them, but then not acknowledging any of the good things happening in Iraq just doesn't jibe, and it isn't fair to those there accomplishing so much. And that makes me want to cry.
